Andalucía Tour

A Taste of Southern Spain

Beginning in Seville, we stay in the heart of the city and have a hands-on cooking class, explore the markets, investigate various types of churros, and enjoy the pastries, tapas and salmorejo (one of the most famous dishes of the region). We will visit churches, and beautiful parks in this most picturesque and historical city. We’ll hang out with flamenco dancers for an evening jaunt on the other side of the river.

We then travel to Jeréz to watch the stunning performance of Arabian horses at the finest Equestrian academy, taste sherry at a bodega and enjoy restaurants that have exceptional Andalusian dishes.

We will visit Suco, an old family friend of Susana, who lives in the forested white villages of Andulucía. He is a winemaker who knows some very interesting cheese makers, olive oil makers, chefs and the noted artist Jose Hinojo Velasquez.

In Cádiz we will visit the museum, climb the bell tower of the Cathedral, shop, relax and eat tapas in one of the coolest and oldest restaurants I know! We will go to some incredible bars and restaurants, and find more flamenco!! We will visit Susana’s friend Rocío, in an adjoining beach town and eat amazing seafood and drink manzanilla on the beach.

We’ll have a private tour of a church to look at the art collection of gold and silver. We will visit cloistered nuns to buy their dulces, indulge ourselves in ice cream specialties and seek out more flamenco in very casual hometown bars!

We will end our tour in the mysterious, exciting town of Vejer de la Frontera, which is a mixture of Andulucían and Moorish architecture; one of the most unique places I have ever been, high on a mesa. It has great food and interesting small shops and feels connected with Africa and the Moors! In Vejer de la Frontera our trip will end, with options to stay on, go to Africa or travel back to Jeréz, Sevilla and points north.
