Adventures in Sicily

I am very pleased to announce this collaboration between Susana Trilling and Judy Witts Francini from Divina Cucina in Tuscany. We have been friends for over 24 years and live parallel lives in different continents. We are thrilled to be joining forces to teach travel and culture through food! She has been a food ambassador for over 30 years, and knows so much about the food and history of Italy!! Now, it is time to share this amazing food and culture with you all!

As Judy says, “we need a lifetime” to explore all that Sicily has to offer, but we can start this odyssey together this November 2019! Our dates are from the 10th to 20th and they are action packed! I am really excited to take you to see this, because it links New World and Old World ingredients! We will be eating cannolis, caponata, Timballo, Busiate, special pesto and pistachios! Those are the “must haves” on any Sicilian culinary tour!

Starting in the historic city of Palermo, we will explore the city and have a cooking class with a real Duchess who is a wonderful traditional cooking teacher. We will be visiting farmers all over the island and will be especially visiting Slow Food Presidium producers as we follow Judy’s food map of Sicily.

In Menfi we meet a lovely woman winemaker, taste the local olive oil and buy the beautiful ceramics from there. We will visit a Slow Food producer of heirloom wheat and go to his mill, and the Greek temples at Selinunte.

In Trapani, we will have another cooking class making the “Cuscusu”, given by a famous chef who makes Couscous with fish, visit the salt flats and the red garlic growers.

Finishing in Catania, we will tour the best fish market in Sicily and go to the baroque capital of Noto, to see the architecture and to visit a tiny pastry shop! We are going to visit the best bean to bar chocolate maker to work with him, and learn about Sicilian chocolate , just like the kind we make at Seasons of my Heart in Mexico!

This is a 11 day -10 night program from November 10th to the 20th, 2019.

Price of the Adventures in Sicily Tour is $4,500 USD per person. Based on double occupancy.
We start our Tour in Palermo, having Catania as our last stop.
